Wedding Shoes

When you hear the words “Wedding Shoes” you probably think of a fabulous pair of glitzy, glamorous heels that a Bride has carefully picked out for that one special day. When Richard & I talk about wedding shoes we are referring to shoes that may not be of the latest haute couture fashion but shoes that will  carry us comfortably through 12 hours of shooting & hopefully all the way through to the end of wedding season.   Now as we are quickly approaching the 2012 wedding season, it seemed appropriate to show just how hard our shoes (we :) work. Richard was cleaning out his closet & handed me his wedding shoes from last season, wow . . .

somewhat ordinary, well-worn shoes but wait . . .

Holes?! Richard actually wedding-ed his shoes out! hahahaha

Help, help!! Get me out of these stinky shoes . . . . aaaaaa

Cold Noses, Warm Hearts ♥

Before wedding season, we have the pleasure of photographing many of our couples’ engagement shoots. It is such a great time to get to know the Bride & Groom a little better.  Most couples aren’t sure what to expect & I think they are usually pleasantly surprised how much fun getting your picture taken can be. We love to make the Engagement Shoot a time to hang out, chat, laugh & just be ourselves.  -Oh & take some magical photos, that is, of course, the best part!  This is our latest Engagement Shoot of Amy & Will. They chose to do their shoot up in the beautiful crisp, white snow at Salt Creek Falls. – with an amazing waterfall to boot. Despite the freezing temperature, Amy & Will just focused on each other & their genuine feelings really came through. It is so wonderful when we have a couple like this who can just be themselves even though the camera is there. We will be shooting Amy & Will’s Wedding this summer out at Whisper-n-Oaks in Junction City, Oregon. Can’t wait to post those :)

Love this 1960’s Groomsmen Shot

This is actually a photo from my Uncle’s wedding. My Dad just recently came upon these photos & gave them to me. What a treasure to find these! My Dad is the best man who is standing closest to the door.   I just love how contrived they are. These days everyone strives to get away from shots that are too posed but I have to say sometimes the silly poses bring out some good stuff in people.  I’m sure my Dad & my Uncle & the rest of the Groomsmen were not overly excited about posing for these wedding photos but I just adore them. There’s just something poignantly goofy about them & maybe it’s because it’s my own family but it means so much to me to see my Dad & his Brother when they were young & had full heads of hair :)  Perhaps modern Brides & Grooms should consider how their children & grandchildren will one day view their wedding photos, what their wedding photos will mean to future generations.  Hmmm . . . maybe a re-birth of an old photography style, something to think about . . .

Now, Groomsmen, push, pull & tug to get the Groom into the church!

Oh, the pressure . . . now wipe your brow as though you're getting cold feet
